I'm going to bed excited tonight because of Jeremy Corbyn!*

Don't get me wrong readers but as my two previous posts on the man show (Viva Corbyn! and Viva Corbyn Pt II; both from last year) show I like what he is doing and most (but not all) of his views and policies.

Which means that by the time I wake up tomorrow we will know if he, and UK Labour, will have won the general election there.

Current vote counts are still early days but they show Labour ahead of the Tories and that in itself is an amazing change from a few months ago when the polls showed Theresa May ahead by up to 20 points in the polls.

I wont write much more but I can probably guess what Andrew Little will be doing tonight and sleeping wont be it because if Corbyn wins it will have an effect on things here come September and more directly Labour NZs fortunes.

But as I note in my Pt II post not everything between NZ Labour and UK Labour are the same (specially when it comes to their leaders) but there is enough of a whiff of FukYoo Politix to put steam in Andrew Little's stride if Corbyn wins and induce a few brown moments in Bill English.

Of course this might not happen but I will be saying my prayers extra hard tonight, just in case.

  1. A very good result for Corbyn especially given where expectations were just a couple of months ago but it still seems he won't be PM, although he only missed it by a hair's breadth.

Part of Corbyn's strength is his ability to win over a certain segment of conservatives, the kind that you represent E.A.

  2. I'm a conservative? I thought I was a Sagittarius.

  3. I am intrigued.

Do you mean like a Bill English style conservative or do you have something else in mind?

I have a some views on life which are conservative but I also have some views which are very liberal so I am keen to hear if you think that is my political or social orientation or both.

    1. If at this stage in your life you don't know what the word "conservative" means I doubt there's anything I can do to enlighten you.

Sorry to deny you a chance to talk about yourself further.

    2. That's a bit of a cop out don't you think, accuse me of being something and then fob me off with that sort of line.

I happen to think I am open to being enlightened by you.

Also what "stage of life" are you referring to, is there some sort of automatic evolutionary period which one becomes a "conservative"?

But its ok, lets talk about you instead.

Are you conservative? Also why in a post where I am clearly cheering for a non conservative candidate who also happens to be further to the left than many would you think I am a conservative.

      I remain intrigued.

I said "If at this stage in your life you don't know what the word "conservative" means..."

I didn't say it was sad that you weren't a conservative, I said it was sad that you didn't know what conservatism was. Maybe reading a little more carefully would be helpful.

That being said, my personal politics are not relevant to this conversation, so I'd rather not discuss them, particularly not in this forum. Thanks all the same.

  4. So in short, you think I am a "conservative" but I don't know what kind of conservative I am and you refuse to expand on that comment to clarify what kind of "conservative" I am by saying I am unable to understand what kind of "conservative" I am, hence why bother explaining what kind of "conservative" I am.

Dude, thats some major trolling right there.

That would be like me saying your a "veeblefetzer" but you do not know your a "veeblefetzer" and are incapable of knowing what a "veeblefetzer" is so why bother explaining what a "veeblefetzer" is to you.

    Are you a "veeblefetzer"?

  5. Sorry, but if I had to educate everybody who lacks basic understanding of politics but considers themself an authority on it, it would be a full time job...

  6. Thats just avoiding the question and further trolling.

Your making an unsupported argument and then falling back on the claim that our ignorance is to great to enable enlightenment and then when pushed further simply say you don't have the time.

With all due respect that is a cop out.

None the less, don't be shy, feel free to have a go at enlightening us

But if you like you can write a guest post here and put forward any argument you like about anything. I am giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge with no strings attached. You may write to expose my ignorance and I will post it up. Free of charge.

I am genuinely interested in what you have to say, if your willing to say it.

Hahahaha, er, no thanks, I'm good mate. If I wanted to do that I'd start my own blog.
